Defender of Archangel
Troika, devourer of souls, figures largely in the remaining chapters of The Red Star. As Skyfurnace Konstantinov comes ever closer to launching their attack on the fortress of the Archangel, so does their confrontation with the mighty Troika.

The name Troika was chosen in part for its historical reference.
In the early days of the KGB, a political prisoner was interrogated under severe torture for 24 hours a day. This was done in three shifts, by three different interrogators working eight hours each.
These three man torture teams were nicknamed 'Troikas'.
